Welcome to Porvoo 13
The Porvoo Group is an international cooperative network of government representatives whose primary goal is to promote a trans-national, interoperable electronic identity, based on PKI technology (Public Key Infrastructure) and electronic ID cards, in order to help ensure secure public and private sector e-transactions in Europe. The Porvoo Group was established in the Finnish city of Porvoo in April 2002 and meets twice a year.
The 13th Porvoo Group meeting is hosted by Brønnøysundregistrene (The Brønnøysund Register Centre) and NAV (The Norwegian Labour and Welfare Organisation), and will be held on April 9 and 10, 2008 on Hurtigruten / The Norwegian Coastal Voyage from Tromsø to Trondheim, Norway.
Hurtigruten / The Norwegian Coastal Voyage has been providing communication between Bergen and Kirkenes for more than a century. The first recorded traveller along this route was Ohthere; he visited King Alfred the Great of Wessex in 890. Information about his identity and his adventures was written down and is still available, even when his footprints in Norway are gone. We therefore know that Porvoo 13 will follow a small part of his voyage; we will see the same mountains and landscapes from a modern ship.
During the voyage, the participants will have the chance to visit some of the ports of call and experience the Norwegian coastline. In April we can still expect winter, and we recommend you bring along warm clothes and outer garments.
The number of participants has reached its limit. It is not longer possible to register.
