Electronic registration of mortgage documents

Actors who use a system especially designed for registration and processing of data (machine-to-machine) can register liens digitally in The Register of Mortgaged Moveable Property.
This involves being able to submit liens for registration digitally, rather than submitting documents by post. So far, this is not possible for private individuals or others who do not have this type of system. Those that wish to use this, must see to the development and adaptation of the system themselves.

Mass transport
It is possible to transport several liens from one holder of a right to another, in one operation. Mass transport is typically used in two situations:
- Transfer of many mortgage deeds – for instance when a bank sells a portfolio of loans to another bank
- Merger between companies – when a company takes over all assets and rights from another company.
Mass transport means that it is possible to transfer up to 1000 liens in one operation, instead of submitting each document separately. In addition, this means that the fee will be lower, when paying one fee for the entire operation. Here you can find information about the registration fees.
Cancellation
All documents that can be registered digitally, can also be cancelled digitally.
Please note that there are exceptions for mortgage deeds, where the petition to cancel normally must be noted on the original document. A bank or a financial institution with licence based on the Financial Institutions Act section 2-7 can still cancel the mortgage deed digitally (lovdata.no).
