Compulsory registration in the Register of Business Enterprises

All sole proprietorships can register in The Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities and will receive an organization number.
You are obliged to register your sole proprietorship in The Register of Business Enterprises if you
- operate resale of purchased goods
- operate a payment company
- have more than five employees who work more than 20 hours per week, or
- are pledging your inventory, motor vehicle or other things where it is provided that the mortgagor is self-employed
If you are self-employed, but do not fulfill any of the criteria, you are not obliged to register in The Register of Business Enterprises, but you have the right to do so if you want to.
When you register in the Register of Business Enterprises you will receive a certificate of registration (firmaattest). There is a fee for this type of registration.
