The European Business Register (EBR) is a European network
for the exchange of information on business enterprises. The
EBR makes official information about European companies available
online to all European countries, across barriers that may
arise due to differences in language, technology and legislation.
As trade across borders is constantly on the rise, correct
and easily available information about foreign business enterprises
has taken on growing importance.
With the EBR you can gain electronic access via the Internet
to information about business enterprises in a number of European
countries. The aim in the long run is to provide the same
information from all the national registers in the EU's inner
market.
Access to official and reliable business enterprise information
is a prerequisite for efficient and safe business operations.
Most countries have business enterprise registers that provide
such information to their domestic business enterprises, but
obtaining reliable information about foreign business enterprises
has not always been easy. The various business-enterprise
registers exchange information among themselves using the
EBR system. In Norway the EBR is accessible on the Brønnøysund
Register Centre web site.
Before you can start using the EBR service you must register
as a user. You will then receive a user name and password
for this service. Via EBR you can identify business enterprises
by searching names in all the participating country registers.
When you have identified a business enterprise you can examine
it in more detail by accessing the standardized package of
information called a business enterprise profile.
