The Brønnøysund Register Centre is in the municipality
of Brønnøy. The town of Brønnøysund
is the regional centre for South Helgeland which includes
the municipalities of Bindal, Brønnøy, Sømna,
Vega and Vevelstad.
Brønnøy is a scenic municipality, geographically
situated in the middle of Norway. The surrounding landscape
is a Norway in miniature: High mountains and deep fjords,
rivers and lakes full of fish, a beautiful coastline with
literally thousands of islands and skerries. Brønnøy
municipality is a haven for those who enjoy boating. Here
access to a boat is almost a requirement. Fish is abundant
and the sea is important both as a food resource, for vacation
and recreation.
Mount Torghatten is the municipality's greatest tourist attraction.
It is 260 metres high and 160 metres long with a 35 metre
high and 15-20 metre wide hole trough the middle of it. The
hole was created thousands of years ago by ice and water.
Another tourist attraction is "Steinar Breiflabb",
a large sculpture of stone in the middle of the Brønnøy
sound. The sculpture represents Brønnøy municipality's
contribution to an international art project called "Artscape
Nordland".
