Registering makes you accessible
The main purpose of registering in the Brønnøysund Register Centre is so that society knows who is engaged in business activities. As a newcomer to the business community, you will need both partners and suppliers. Some of them will contact you when your registration is made public, as a rule to the benefit of both parties.
Don't be fooled
Not everyone who contacts you will have good intentions, however. You should therefore also make use of the openness in the registers. At the very least, you should check that the enterprise proposing a collaboration or wanting to sell you services is registered with contact information in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities. And you should carry out thorough investigations before entering into serious commitments.
Aggressive sellers sometimes pass themselves off as representatives of the Brønnøysund Register Centre and offer services in return for payment in our name. This often happens as soon as your registration is made public and before you have received feedback from us in the mail. Some sellers ask for your national identity number and credit card number, which puts you at risk of serious fraud.
Please note that the Brønnøysund Register Centre never contacts enterprises directly to sell services and that we would never request a credit card number. If you are in doubt about whether we have contacted you, then ask us by phoning (+47) 75 00 75 00 before deciding what to do.
